Uma amiga minha costuma dizer que “o melhor de Gaia é a vista sobre o Porto”. De facto, é da outra margem que o cenário se torna deslumbrante e melhor apreciamos o espectáculo do “casario que se estende até ao mar”, tal qual uma “cascata sanjoanina”, sendo o melhor lugar nessa plateia, para mim, o Bogani Café. Trata-se de um café-bar cosmopolita que se destaca não só pela qualidade do espaço e do serviço, mas sobretudo pela vista privilegiada, dispondo de uma fantástica esplanada sobre o rio.

O espaço está decorado de forma moderna, com destaque para o branco das poltronas (‘bubble’) desenhadas por Philippe Starck, onde gosto de me afundar e deixar levar pelo fascínio da vista, com a Ponte D. Luis à direita e, à nossa esquerda, a mais sensual curva que o Douro faz antes de transpor a Ponte da Arrábida na sua viagem até ao mar. Ideal para tomar um café logo pela manhã e começar o dia da melhor forma. Mas se puder não deixe de ir lá ao entardecer e tornar a experiência ainda mais completa com um pôr-de-sol que vai pintando o cenário de cores diversas, até ao escurecer e o rio reflectir as luzes da cidade estendendo a sua beleza.

A friend of mine always say that “the best of Gaia is the view of Porto”. That’s because it is from the other side of the river that the view is stunning and one could better appreciate the spectacle of the houses that extends to the sea as a “cascada sanjoanina”. And the best place in this theater, for me, is the Bogani Café. That´s a cosmopolitan coffee bar where I apreciate not only the quality of the space and of the service, but especially the privileged location with a wonderful terrace overlooking the river.

The space is decorated with a modern look, with emphasis on the white chairs (‘bubble’) designed by Philippe Starck, on which I like to sink and feel overwhelmed by the fascination of the view, with the D. Luis bridge on the right and, to our left, the more sensual curve of the river Douro before crossing the Arrábida bridge on its way to the sea. Ideal for the morning coffe to start the day the best way possible. But if you can be sure to go there in the late afternoon and turn the experience even more complete, watching the sunset painting the scenario with multiple colors until dark, and the river reflecting the city lights highlighting its beauty.
